Kokanee Salmon Keychain

If you're lucky enough to visit a creek in the fall, it's a beautiful sight to see—golden leaves fall from trees in shades of amber, crimson, and bronze, surrounding the water as the salmon return to spawn the next generation. The Kokanee Salmon, also known as the "Little Red Fish," has been a part of the Snoqualmie Tribe’s way of life for generations. Artist Stirling MacArthur (Snoqualmie) has captured the beauty and significance of this mighty fish in his Kokanee Salmon Keychain. The perfect accessory for your keys, tote bag, purse, or even the belt loop on your pants, feel inspired knowing that the Little Red Fish are still here with us. Remind yourself and those around you of the hard work the Snoqualmie Tribe and its partners are doing to ensure the future of the Lake Sammamish Kokanee Salmon.

"This design means a lot to me as salmon have always played a large role in my life. My parents met fishing for salmon in Alaska, and years later my brother and I went to do the same after high school. I was also fortunate enough to grow up on a salmon-bearing creek, watching them return in the fall. Salmon have been a part of my life every step of the way," Stirling says.

A part of our Souvenirs of Summer Capsule Collection, the Kokanee Salmon Keychain is one of six special items designed to capture the beauty of summer in the Pacific Northwest. From magnets to enamel pins, Stirling's Souvenir Capsule captures the beauty and significance of everything the Snoqualmie area has to offer.
